Level 3 Year 2 (SGS College) - Caw & Order

About The Game

Caw & Order is a 3D role-playing game developed in Unreal Engine 5.2. This was the 5th and final project I worked on at Level 3 Year 2 of my games design course at South Gloucestershire & Stroud College. It is based around the theme of deception, and was designed with the goal of making a basic, yet engaging game in only 12 weeks.

You play as an assortment of crows hidden in a trench coat, that has stolen a shiny object of unknown origin. This has landed you in trouble with the police, which must be convinced you are an innocent human! You must use the crows at your disposal in order to find clues hidden around the interrogation room, allowing you to gain the answers to the police officers questions. Be careful not to answer the questions wrong though, as this will arise suspicion in the officers, leading to your downfall!

To answer each question, you must choose from safe replies with the added risk of choosing a high value reply to gain double points. This can be costly though, as getting it wrong will cost you double points. Depending on your answers, you will gain or lose karma. This will be used to evaluate your success at the end, supplying a different ending for each threshold.

How To Play The Game

This game is designed for gamepad use, so you will need a gamepad to play. You begin by starting in a tutorial. This teaches you all of the controls, as well as how every mechanic works. This was designed to be as engaging as possible, so it cannot be skipped on the first playthrough. On subsequent playthroughs, this can be skipped though.

You have to answer as many questions positively as you can, in order to avoid being discovered and imprisoned. You can cycle through your reply options with the top and bottom d-pad buttons, and confirm with the bottom face button.

When investigating, you can use the left joystick to move, and the right joystick to move the camera. When encountering something you can interact with, use the left face button.
