EcoGrid Connect
A downloadable game for Windows
About The Game
EcoGrid Connect Is a top-down 3D sandbox game developed in Unreal Engine 5.2. This was the fourth Level 3 Year 2 engines project of the games design course at South Gloucestershire & Stroud College (Stroud Campus), with Declan Lloyd working as a solo developer for the game.
We were given the theme of limited environmental resources, with the requirement of creating something to expand our portfolio, having assets to showcase for University interviews. The project was designed with the goal of conveying how renewable energy sources are better for the environment than coal power, in 3 weeks.
You must connect coal powered homes up to renewable energy sources, as 75% of the homes must be powered renewably to stop the toxic smog engulfing the area. Leaving the smog to expand for too long will result in a game over, but pushing it back provides more space. Wires can be used as an intermediate, sending the power from the renewable energy sources over longer distances.
To afford placeable assets, you require funds. These funds are acquired when new homes spawn, as well as when you power them with renewable energy for the first time.

How To Play
3 homes powered by coal are at risk of the toxic smog closing in! Renewable energy is the only way to save them! This can be done by connecting a renewable energy source to the home directly, or with powered wires. Only when 75% (or more) of the homes are powered renewably, will the smog begin to fade, allowing access to more space!
Beginning with 25 funds, use the list in the top-right corner of the screen to select a renewable energy source to place, clicking on a tile to place it. Placed assets can be removed by holding shift whilst clicking on them. To keep track of how many funds you have remaining, refer to the top-left corner of the screen.
